Lithuanian customs detained 13 cars intended for Russian customers

The Customs Department under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania detained 13 cars belonging to a company from Klaipeda, which is suspected of violating international sanctions by transporting used cars across the border between Lithuania and Russia and Belarus.

Two employees of the company were also suspected of violating sanctions. The customs said that the cars originally came from the United States and the total value of the detained vehicles is more than €200,000.

According to customs officials, the company had provided false information about the owners and buyers of the cars when submitting their declarations.
