Two Russians were convicted of violating US trade sanctions

In the United States, two Russians were convicted of violating trade sanctions by supplying spare parts to Russia for the Boeing 737.

The US Department of Justice announced that Oleg Patsulya had been sentenced to 70 months in prison and his partner, Vasilii Besedin, to two years.

According to court documents, Patsulya and Besedin had conspired in 2022 to receive orders from Russian buyers for various aircraft components. They admitted that they knew these exports were subject to control and required a license from the Ministry of Trade. Besedin and Patsulya exported several batches of brake systems for Boeing 777 aircraft, telling American suppliers that the parts were destined for countries other than Russia.

In total, during the transactions, at least US$4,582,288.51 was transferred from Russian airlines’ bank accounts in Turkey to American bank accounts associated with Patsulya.
