EU prepared the 17th package of sanctions against Russia

The EU has prepared the 17th package of sanctions against Russia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia has published details of the 17th package of sanctions against Russia. It will come into effect on Tuesday, May 20, when foreign ministers of the EU will approve it at a meeting of the Council for Foreign Affairs.

This new package will include sanctions against 17 individuals, 58 organizations, and 189 vessels from Russia’s shadow fleet that supply oil.

”Coal and seaborne crude oil and petroleum products are already under sanctions, but gas and pipeline oil imports into the European Union continue. We must continue to restrict imports of Russian energy carriers,” said Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.

The minister also said that, in addition to sanctions, the EU should move forward with using frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank to benefit Ukraine.
